What Is InfoComm and Why It Matters to the AV Industry

When it comes to professional audiovisual technology, InfoComm isn’t just another tradeshow—it’s the heartbeat of the global AV community. Hosted annually by AVIXA (the Audiovisual and Integrated Experience Association), InfoComm serves as the industry's most influential event, offering a front-row seat to the future of AV.

At AV Planners, we proudly participate in the InfoComm ecosystem as an AVIXA member, with multiple team members holding Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) credentials. For us, InfoComm is more than an event—it’s a reflection of our ongoing commitment to industry leadership, technical expertise, and forward-thinking design.

A Brief History of InfoComm

InfoComm’s origins trace back to 1946, when the organization that would become AVIXA was first formed to represent audiovisual professionals. Since then, the show has grown from a niche gathering to a world-renowned exhibition, drawing tens of thousands of attendees and hundreds of leading manufacturers from around the globe.

Today, InfoComm rotates annually between major cities—most commonly Las Vegas and Orlando—and serves as the launchpad for the latest innovations in:

  • Conferencing and collaboration solutions
  • Digital signage and immersive display tech
  • AV-over-IP and networked control systems
  • Audio processing, DSP, and acoustics
  • Unified communications and smart workplace platforms

 Why InfoComm Matters

A Glimpse Into the Future of AV

InfoComm is where next-generation AV solutions are revealed to the world. From AI-powered conferencing tools to cutting-edge LED video walls and control automation platforms, the show floor offers a hands-on look at what’s next in commercial AV.

At AV Planners, this first look allows us to evaluate which technologies will best support our clients' evolving needs in corporate boardrooms, hybrid workspaces, education, and healthcare environments.

Networking With the Best in the Business

TechInnovationStage-3500

InfoComm gathers professionals from every sector of the AV world:

  • AV integrators and consultants
  • Manufacturers and distributors
  • IT leaders and facilities teams
  • Architects, builders, and low-voltage contractors

It’s a rare opportunity to connect face-to-face with vendors, thought leaders, and potential collaborators. These relationships translate into real-world value for our clients, as we stay aligned with the most respected voices and newest tools in the industry.

Education, Certification, and Continuous Growth

One of the most valuable aspects of InfoComm is the professional education it offers. AVIXA hosts dozens of training sessions and workshops where attendees can:

  • Earn CTS and CTS-D/R renewal credits
  • Deepen their knowledge of AV networking, systems design, and audio calibration
  • Explore trends like AVaaSAI in AV, and remote monitoring solutions

As an AVIXA member with multiple CTS-certified team members, AV Planners strongly emphasizes continued education. InfoComm helps our team stay sharp and ahead of the curve, bringing that expertise directly into every project we design and install.

Looking Ahead to InfoComm 2025

At AV Planners, we lead with innovation and insight. Each year, InfoComm shapes our understanding of what’s possible—and guides the technology recommendations we bring to our clients.

We’ll be attending this year’s show in early June and will be publishing a full recap of the technologies and trends we’re most excited about. Stay tuned for our follow-up blog later this month, where we’ll highlight the tools and platforms that will elevate our AV system designs in the months ahead.
