Outdoor Meeting Space

Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, many activities that routinely took place indoors have had to undergo a rethink. If not canceled altogether, events and meetings have been reorganized so that they can happen outdoors where the risk of getting infected by COVID is significantly lower and social distancing significantly easier. In fact, outdoor meeting spaces have emerged as creative and innovative environments to stage events, and solutions for communication, collaboration and productivity have thrived. They say necessity is the mother of invention.

While hybrid workplaces have become the new norm and many people have adapted to working from home, there are still times when getting together as a group is more convenient or necessary. That’s where outdoor meeting spaces come to the fore, with a space that employees can feel comfortable in. They are also a good first step toward bringing employees back into the office.

Many organizations have space available for outdoor gatherings; for example, business parks and corporate offices often have courtyards or rooftop areas, patios or other outdoor spaces that can be repurposed. Organizations can adorn these spaces with branded content, for example using digital signage to display logos, images, videos and other visual elements to create coherence, familiarity and perhaps more of an office-like feel. Commercial building owners can also add value to their spaces by creating outdoor environments for tenants.

When utilizing technology for outdoor meetings, it’s important to take into account weather and environmental considerations. For example, heat and humidity can damage certain equipment, so making sure you have appropriate hardware to withstand the elements is key. Outdoor meeting technology also needs to be as easily accessible and user-friendly as any indoor technology to ensure that employees and managers get the full benefit of utilizing outdoor spaces. Cameras, speakers and digital signage can be incorporated into these spaces to provide an optimal hybrid meeting space for all attendees.

Relocating meeting spaces outdoors doesn’t mean you have to be limited by technology though. Outdoor spaces integrated with weatherproof technology can redefine corporate collaboration and attract new opportunities for connectivity with employees, clients and partners. Meanwhile, this enables companies to maximize their office space by utilizing new, unique outdoor spaces.
