AMLI Old Pasadena: AV Solutions for Resident Amenities

Overview

AMLI Old Pasadena, a high-end apartment complex in the heart of Pasadena, CA, wanted to elevate the resident experience by integrating state-of-the-art audio and video (AV) technology throughout its common areas. The objective was to create a seamless, high-quality AV experience in its public open spaces, such as its movie theater, game room, sky deck, pool deck, and courtyard, enhancing the luxury lifestyle promised to its residents. To achieve this, AMLI partnered with AV Planners to implement a comprehensive AV system featuring QSYS processors and amplifiers, Visionary Solutions’ video encoders and decoders, and Netgear networking solutions.

The Challenge

A major hurdle was efficiently distributing high-definition video and premium audio across AMLI Old Pasadena’s varied common areas and multiple buildings. With its intricate layout spanning three buildings and encompassing indoor and outdoor entertainment spaces, a resilient and adaptable AV distribution system was essential. The challenge demanded a dependable and easy-to-manage solution that could also deliver a seamless experience, whether residents were enjoying a movie night or a lively game session in the lounge.

The Solution

Integrating the QSYS Core 110f processor into the central control system for audio and video routing is an essential component of the AV system. This advanced technology provides centralized control over the audio experience in each area, allowing for easy adjustments and customization tailored to specific events or spaces. Working seamlessly with Visionary Solutions AV over IP, it ensures synchronized audio and video playback.

Visionary Solutions 5 Series Encoders and Decoders

The heart of the video distribution system was Visionary Solutions 5 Series encoders and decoders. These devices provided the flexibility to stream high-quality and low-latency video over the existing IP network, making them ideal for the complex’s diverse settings. A network-based video system enables the encoders and decoders to facilitate seamless content distribution across the facility.

AV Distribution and Networking

Critical to the success of the AV system was the robust networking infrastructure provided by Netgear’s M4250 series switches. These switches were designed explicitly for AV over IP applications, offering the bandwidth and reliability needed to support the high data throughput of the video and audio streams. The network connected all three buildings, ensuring high-quality AV distribution to the movie theater, game room, sky deck, pool deck, and courtyard without interruption. Netgear’s Engage software provided a central location to manage six network switches to create a genuinely robust 10-gigabyte fiber network.

Implementation

AV Planners expertly executed the seamless integration of these state-of-the-art technologies, ensuring an efficient and effective installation process that minimized any disruptions for residents. Comprehensive training was also provided to the AMLI Old Pasadena staff, guaranteeing that the system could be easily managed and tailored to suit a variety of events and preferences.

The Outcome

The AV system’s implementation has transformed the common areas of AMLI Old Pasadena into dynamic entertainment spaces, significantly enhancing the resident experience. The seamless distribution of audio and video content allows for various activities, such as movie nights and sports events in the theater or ambient music in the outdoor areas, creating an atmosphere of luxury and exclusivity. As a result, residents have enjoyed high-quality entertainment experiences, consolidating the community’s position as a premier living destination in Pasadena.

Conclusion

The AMLI Old Pasadena case study exemplifies the transformative power of advanced AV solutions in enhancing the luxury living experience. AV Planners delivered a cutting-edge entertainment system that set a new standard for high-end apartment living by strategically integrating Visionary Solutions encoders and decoders, QSYS Control and Audio system, and Netgear networking. This project elevated the resident experience and showcased the potential of AV technology to create engaging and immersive environments in residential communities.
