AV Planners is an active member of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and is part of a "Green AV" initiative working as a catalyst to ensure that audio and video systems support green building standards.
AV Planners cooperates with AV integrators, manufacturers, consultants and associations to get the message to corporations that AV technologies can save energy and generate carbon credits. Those collaborations include partnerships with Polycom, Sony, and Draper, three vendors who have done research in this area, to quantify the savings from using videoconferencing rather than air travel. Additionally, AV planners offices are piloting formal sustainability plans. The final, company-wide plan will use standards-based Green Building practices to conserve energy and improve the quality of the work environment.
